Planning a vacation can be a bit of a hassle. Where to stay, what activities or tours to go on, where to eat etc. Having a travel advisor can save you time, and money, when it comes to booking your adventure.
But if you’ve never used a travel agency before, it’s hard to tell if you’re getting the best service. There is nothing worse than having no one to help when things go wrong. (Speaking from experience!) So, I’ve put together a list of questions to ask your travel advisor.
What Types of Documentation Do I Need for My Trip?
When traveling, it helps to know what kind of documents you will need for each of your stops. Your travel advisor should be able to tell you what visas are needed and what kind of identification you will need to carry while traveling. , Your travel advisor may be able to help you apply for and receive the documents you will need.
What Types of Vacations Do You Have Experience Planning?
Many travel advisors have experience dealing with certain types of travel like cruises, safaris, or specific cities, both domestic and international. An experienced travel advisor may know how to get better deals when it comes to certain destinations.
Do You Offer Any Perks Or Upgrades?
There are tons of advantages to using a travel advisor over booking everything yourself. Some travel agencies have great connections with hotels, airlines, and car rental companies, so they can offer discounts. Ask your travel advisor if they are affiliated or connected with any major travel brands.
How Can I Get In Touch With My Advisor?
Knowing when and how you can get in touch with your travel advisor is important. If you have trouble with hotel or other types of bookings, or have a travel emergency, you will want to know that you can get a hold of someone who will be able to help you sort through the problems quickly.
Can I Access My Vacation Itinerary Online?
These days everything can be done online, it is also nice to have instant access to your itinerary while travelling. To find out exactly what type of online services your travel advisor offers, ask if you can print tickets yourself, if your online itinerary includes travel maps, and if there are any other services that you think you may need online access to while traveling.
Do I Need Travel Insurance?
It’s always a good idea to look into your options for travel insurance. No two insurance policies are the same. If you’re going on a cruise (for instance) and heaven forbid you should get sick or injured, there are policies that cover emergency evacuation. This protects you from getting stuck in a foreign hospital with no way to get home.
Can You Provide Me With Specific Destination Knowledge?
Hiring a travel advisor that has knowledge of the destination you’re heading to, can help you by recommending activities or restaurants, and sharing valuable information about things like the weather, local laws and customs, basic communication etc, this can all be a big advantage so you’ll know what to expect when you arrive at your destination.
All 1 of a Kind Vacations’ itineraries include as much local information as possible.
